There is no industry guide on SMS delivery, read rate or responses.


Based on our customer data, we do see some trends on delivery rate and opt outs.


First Time Send


When a customer sends to a contact list for the first time, on average we see an opt out rate of 20% and a delivery rate of 85%. This is because a contact list usually has some out of date or incorrect data.


Consecutive Sends


On consecutive sends, when hard bounces are regularly deleted, on average we see a delivery rate of 95% and 3-4% opt out.


Read Rate


Because there is no feedback mechanism, we cannot give meaningful data on read rate.

It is generally accepted that read rate for SMS is above 90%.


Response Rate


Because the response rate is heavily dependent on the SMS content, we cannot calculate an accurate response rate.
